Spy vs Spy Harrys Reasons

vSpy vSpy’s first album recorded at the old Albert’s Studios on King St Sydney with Lezsek Karski producing. It was our first experience making an album, and we had no idea what we were doing so thank God Lezsek was there to guide us along. As rough as it is, many Spy supporters consider it their favourite Spy album of all time. There’s "something about" a bands first album isn’t there? That seminal experience of a bands first recording.

All Over the World

All over the world,
There’s more than meets the eye
land and sea to share,
red yellow black and white
All over the world,
There’s darkness and there’s light
sad stories are told
But it’s good to be alive

Something

give us something
that we can read.
Just as long as it
tells the truth.
Give us something
we can feel,
Something real and
Soft to touch.
You tell us that,
we’re happy this way,

I say that it is a
season of changes,
I think it’s something
that we should know.
But you say,
"let’s keep it a secret".
Cause maybe that’s
Something, Something
we should know!
Give us Something
that we can eat
just as long as it’s
not bright blue
You tell us we’re happy
in the darkness
I’m telling you
It’s time to change.

Learn to Laugh

I’m taking it as it comes
I’m taking it a day at a time
Learn what you can

Remember what you learn
Be kind and you will live a long life
If you can’t laugh,
You’ll have nothing left I know
Your sense of humour, is just a rumour
Smile and let the seeds grow
Learn to laugh
Being cheerful, keeps you healthy,
And others will respect your smile
An honest answer is a sign of Friendship
You’ll die if you’re sad all the time
Shirt of a Happy Man

The king was sitting talking
to his wise men and a priest
He said "I’m so unhappy;
and I’m searching for some peace".
So they put their heads together,
started thinking what to do.
Cause the King was turning angry.
And this is what he told them to do.
Take an army, go and find me
the shirt of a happy man

Then my searching will be over.
And the people will be happy at home.
So the people went into the country.
Started searching far and wide
They found a house all broken down
With nothing much inside
They found a man who said, "I’m Happy"
Turning over the ground
But his back was bare,
His hands were worn,
and there was no shirt to be found.
So the King has lost out,
He never found, The shirt of a happy man.
So the searching is over
and the people will be
waiting a long, long time

Out and Dreaming

Waking up and looking around
looking around my room,

and I see nothing
I’ve gotta get out and dreaming
I wish that I could
But I’ve got no jokes
and no money.
I wish I could be by myself.
It’s just another Aftermath
of a party, regretting all
those things that I probably
said.
Way of the World

This is Simply a Statement on the
Ill Health of Society
Not an Endorsement of Violence.
The Wait

I Smile,
I Weep,
I Wait,
I Bleed for you.

Iron Curtain

A secret Person Hardly known, International
Even though we live our lives alone,
she reaches ’cross the globe

Wretched Doctrines Keep us down,
our undercover has been blown.
Receiving messages in code,
We’ve been discovered
Here we go, Here we go again
I jumped over the wall,
Here we go, I Jump the Wall
Behind the Iron Curtain
We have secret rendezvous,
Apparently a crime, I hope the message
makes it through, the Network overnight
She packs a bag and waits it out,
No passport for the flight
We’re making contact losing time,
We’re captives running.

Injustice

Injustice
We’re hearing things about you.
Injustice
We’re seeing the things that you do
But you’re making friends
And you’re telling stories
You’re trying harder, every day
You counting change, while holding dollars

You’re laughing louder every day
Every day.
Injustice
Will you ever leave our land
Injustice
You bite the feeding hand
But you’re making files
and you’re drinking champagne
You drive it harder,
Every day
We’re walking miles
Dreaming of ice-cream
We’re trying harder
Every day.
But you’re burning friends
And you’re going insane
You take it higher
Every day
You’re telling lies
but you’re making headway
You make it harder
Every day
Injustice
We see the things that you do
Injustice
You better believe we’re watching you
Cos we tug at the leash
You hold on
We tug at the leash
You hold on
We tug at the leash
You hold on to.
